Stress in the workplace today is now recognised by employers and many are offering yoga / pilates classes to help de-stress.  The benefit to the employer is that employees will be more productive and are less likely to need time off through illness.   According to the 2014/15 Health and Safety Statistics `Mental ill health gave rise to most working days lost`.

Flexibility is one of the main benefits of yoga as through time ligaments, tendons and muscles lengthen leading to increasing elasticity in the movement of the body.

Learning the power of breathing

Take a moment to think about your breath: Is it deep or shallow? Slow or fast? It is not normally something that we think of because breathing happens unconsciously.  It is part of the autonomic nervous system which tells our internal organs, diaphragm and lungs, to function without our conscious control.  However, we can through our yoga practice training, regulate our breathing which is helpful in strengthening our lung capacity and even quieten the busy mind.
